Always Leading, Rarely Seen:
Anti-Blackness as a “Root Cause” in the Global Child Rights and Protection Movement
We were proud to co-sponsor the first gathering of the “Always Leading, Rarely Seen” Series by the Children’s Rights Innovation Fund, an opportunity to stake claim to a radical and intersectional vision for children’s rights, one that contends with racism and neo-colonialism.

Our Stories, Our Faces, Our Voices: Who Tells Our Story?
Co-Founder and Art Director, Miriam Sugranyes took part in the 4th Conversation of the series Reconstructing Children’s Rights, an online institute about dismantling racism, neo-colonialism, and patriarchy in humanitarian and development efforts to protect children and support families.

What do we owe our children?
A #COP26 conversation about our duties to children and future generations convened by Capita, an independent non-partisan think tank.
The event took place on November 8th, 2021 and featured perspectives on our ethical obligations to today’s children, to guaranteeing children’s rights, to our descendants, to mitigating climate disaster, to an open future, and more. A recording of the conversation can be watched here.
Climate Champions
Children must take part in climate and environmental decisions – they care, have rights and their ideas, passion and imaginations can inspire adults to urgently act to save our planet from irreversible destruction.
Launched in August 2021, this collaborative project with Little Inventors and CRIN aims to show that children’s input should be actively sought and listened to on matters that affect their present lives and their future, particularly on the climate and other environmental issues.
Tate Exchange as part of Beta Society with Digital Maker Collective
In 2019 and 2020, we participated in the annual week-long Tate Exchange event at the Tate Modern in collaboration with the Digital Maker Collective alongside multiple other partners.
The programme brought together tech activists, experts, students, university staff, creatives and the public to explore ideas for making society a better, fairer place.
Venice Biennale 2019 as part of the ARTIVISM pavilion
In collaboration with the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation we participated in the 58th Venice Art Biennale as part of Artivism: The Atrocity Prevention Pavilion, an art exhibition to showcase the connections between art, human rights, and mass atrocity prevention.
Our contribution to the exhibition included the sculpture Wonder and the Break to Create digital platform, an invitation to break our assumptions, our silence, and our inaction with a series of challenges that is still active
Be More Pirate
We are proud pirates and members of the Be More Pirate network which is a group of autonomous rebels who are out to cause good trouble by standing up to the status quo. The movement grew out of their book, which inspired us to write the CRIN Code: “Being more pirate is a shift in your mindset; a willingness to think differently, to challenge and be challenged, and to stop asking for permission to do what you know is right.”

Toxics; Art Exhibition and Talks
To highlight the impact of toxic exposure on children, we exhibited artwork on the issue at The Three Stags in London in November 2018, an event which featured a discussion with the UN’s top expert on human rights and toxics, Baskut Tuncak. Using facts as the inspiration to get us to confront the fundamentals of toxics, the artworks are a wake-up call about the hazards, our vulnerabilities, and what needs to change.
Murals
As part of our effort to reach different audiences with our ideas, research, and artwork, we have taken part in a number of mural projects in public spaces in London, Palestine and Washington DC. These were done with the intention of collaborating with other artists, activists and children, but also to bring our work to street level in an effort to democratise human rights as a responsibility that everyone shares.
Build Your Own Farming City with Design with Co
Design with Co is an architecture firm in Chicago that explores the territory between the architectural and the literary, real and unreal, mundane and fantastic. We collaborated with them in the development of a toolkit for children to build their own farming city, asking them to imagine how tomorrow’s world could be like.
Women Cartoonists International Awards 2019 with United Sketches
In 2019, we collaborated with United Sketches acting as part of the jury of the Women Cartoonists International Awards.
